Internships, 1004!
On Thursday, WiCS held a panel discussion for students looking for their first Computer Science-related internship, even if they don’t have a lot of coding experience. It was a basic introduction to the ins and outs of the tech industry - with special attention paid to how those aspiring few could break into the field.
The panelists – Emily Pakulski (CC ‘16), Samara Trilling (CC ‘15), and Miles Milton (CC ‘17) – discussed their experiences as first time interns both in research and in industry. They gave pointers on where to find these internships, get these internships, and - the ever important - how to keep these internships. And of course, other topics included resources available to Columbia and Barnard students, job search, interview, and even negotiation advice!
A big thanks to everyone that ended up coming out on this (frightfully!) cold night! If you couldn’t brave the icy winds, feel free to check out the slideshow here and get a basic lowdown of what went down.
